When people tell me they are searching for a real-time job and want to break into the industry, I always share a few links that helped me along the way. Since I always share the same things over and over again, I think it is a good time to just have everything here 😁
1. Remote game jobs
A job board to find remote work in the game industry. This one usually contains ads from smaller studios, and you can find work with a variety of game engines.
2. GAMEJOBS
Probably the number one database for game jobs that contains filtering of seniority level, region, and contract type.
3. Work with indies
This is an amazing site if you want to work with Indie companies. Indies hold a big space in my heart since I started my journey with an indie company. Here you can also find projects that use a variety of game engines.
4. The magical secret animation/VFX job sheet
A database sheet that contains animation and VFX jobs from all around the world. I think this one just combs through the web and finds everything. It also has sections for seniority level.
5. A guide for a great VFX portfolio by Hadidjah Chamberlin
If you are building a portfolio but are not sure what your portfolio should contain, this guide is a great start. Hadidjah Chamberlin was my mentor when I started my VFX journey, and their content was incredibly helpful. Their site contains all of the information needed for getting hired in the games industry as a VFX artist.
